Finishing an antique pillow

1 May

I went to an antique fair a while back and found this pillow in a box under a table. It has a very intricate hand embroidered design and it must have been a lot of work for who ever made it. It didn’t have an insert but I was lucky enough to find one that fit. I washed and ironed it so it’s ready to go.

Next step is adding the insert. When I ironed the pillow I folded in the opening edge to match the seem at each end of the it. This makes it much easyer when it is time to close up the pillow.

To stitch it shut I usuallly stitch right at the crease and go back and forth from one side to the other.

This makes for a nice and clean seam when the pillow is finished.

And there you have it, the pillow is all done and ready for the reading chair in Olivia’s room.
